Catherine O'Hara, the celebrated actress renowned for her roles in "Home Alone" and "Schitt's Creek," has passed away at the age of 71.

 

She died at her Los Angeles home following a brief illness.

 

O'Hara's career spanned over five decades, beginning with her work in the Canadian sketch comedy series "SCTV," where she showcased her exceptional comedic talents.

 

She gained international fame portraying Kate McCallister, the mother in the beloved "Home Alone" films, and later captivated audiences as the eccentric Moira Rose in the critically acclaimed series "Schitt's Creek."

 

Her performance in "Schitt's Creek" earned her an Emmy Award in 2020 and a Golden Globe in 2021.

 

Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike.

 

Macaulay Culkin, who played her son in "Home Alone," expressed his grief, stating, "Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say. I love you. I'll see you later."
